Dear Dr. Lloyd, can you tell me more about body image and eating disorders?
I hear a lot of discussion about body positivity and challenging the unrealistic beauty standards in our society today.
Well, it's a very good question.
Thank you.
Body positivity is meaning that we're open to different and perhaps, you know, not traditionally or aesthetically or classically sort of beautiful, quote unquote, beautiful elements of the aesthetic, right, of our body, right? It means embracing our differences and being okay and comfortable in our own skin. And as an ally to people and to ourselves, we want to be compassionate and open and love the things about them that make them special, right? And so those are great starts to engage in body positivity and to deal with things like body dysmorphic disorder or eating disorders, which can be much more complicated manifestations that we can go into later in a more detailed video. Thank you.
