Namaste. Today we're here to talk about mindfulness and meditation. What are these things? We hear them a lot.
Do I do it? Do I not do it? Is it gonna be fun? Is it gonna be helpful for me?
Well, mindfulness is a training of your attention into the present moment or onto a particular, often neutral, thing such as your breath. It can be a great tool for building focus and also taming that kind of mental monkey that can get on our back and take us in all kinds of directions we don't want to go.
Meditation, however, is a specific practise that we do where we set aside time perhaps to do a mindful exercise, or perhaps to have a different suggestion such as a transcendental suggestion, a gratitude suggestion, or any number of other sub-things of meditation.
So, to recap:
Mindfulness is a way of training your attention towards the present moment, and it's useful in meditation.
Meditation is the practise of taking time out of your day to just be and to change the focus of your mind.
Thanks a lot, and give it a try.
