Just wanted to follow up on our last video that had a question about eating disorders.  So let's talk about some of the common eating disorders that we see. Two of the most common are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

So in anorexia, this is usually resulting in restrictive food intake that results in a lack of calories and that ultimate wasting syndrome. Now, this is something that after some time can can actually have a paradoxical effect and that deprivation can give someone a sense of control and even euphoria, which can be quite dangerous in spiralling towards severe weight loss and potential difficulty. In the case of bulimia, this can be an alternating between bingeing or overindulging in a particular food or substance and then purging, you know, either through exercise or through vomiting or the use of laxatives.

So, it's another way that someone is trying to to cope with the intense emotions that they're experiencing perhaps in life and maybe towards food. But what ends up happening is a vicious and violent cycling that is difficult to get off of.  Thank you.
